Contracted by Israviation to develop, design and build the “proof of concept” prototype of the turboprop ST50, the Cirrus ST50 engineering prototype first flew on December 7, 1994. The all new five seater is being developed by Cirrus Designs in the US and Israviation in Israel. Cirrus is responsible for the design while Israviation will manufacture the aircraft.
The product line was expanded in 2000 with certification of the SR22, a growth product of the SR20, with a more powerful engine and longer range. A new aircraft, the Cirrus SR22-G2 (Generation 2), replacing the SR22, features all leather seats, feather wrapped side yoke, throttle and grab handles, as well as new large gull wing doors. The type also has a full colour 10.4 inch primary flight display (PFD), and a 10.4¬inch colour display displaying engine monitoring, checklists, weather, terrain, and route flight planning information.
The first Australian-assembled Cirrus SR22 was handed over to its owner at Archerfield, Queensland, in May 2006. The aircraft are assembled from knocked-down kits from Cirrus in the USA.
In April 2007, Cirrus Design introduced its third generation of aircraft – the SR22-G3. The G3 is a continuing evolution to refine the aircraft structure and systems, and reduce unnecessary weight using the best new materials and engineering methods available. Cirrus introduced the SR22-G3 with a lighter wing thanks to a new carbon fibre spar with increased dihedral, increased fuel capacity, improved ice protection, expanded centre of gravity envelope and taller undercarriage for greater prop clearance. Without adding to the aircraft’s weight, Cirrus has increased new equipment options, payload, safety features, and aircraft usefulness. With nearly 700 changes and systems improvements, the SR22-G3 represents the culmination of virtually everything Cirrus has learned about engineering and design.

In the summer of 1994, Cirrus Design introduced the SR20 at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Cirrus Design continued development and testing of the SR20 and received FAA certification in October 1998.
The Cirrus SR20 is constructed with strong, composite materials. It delivers a 160 knot cruise speed and sips only 10.5 gallons of fuel per hour as it covers an 800 nautical mile range. It is powered by a Teledyne Continental IO 360 ES 200 hp engine and the propeller from Hartzell, and fitted with a side-stick controller. The first customer delivery was on 20 July 1999. At that point, Cirrus has orders for 324 SR20s. Shortly after delivering their 200th SR20, Cirrus Design unveiled thew SR20A, with an increase of 45 kg in take-off weight, a redesigned engine cowling and other minor refinements.

Alan and Dale Klapmeier offered the VK30 kit aircraft in 1987. The five-seater was powered by a 300-hp Continental pusher engine and had a cruise speed of over 200 mph. The Klapmeiers sold the rights to an Israeli company with intentions to certify the design, but the plan never moved forward. The kit is no longer available and only 5 models were ever built. A pusher designed to cruise at 250 mph, the VK30 is a four place, long range cross country aeroplane first flown in 1988.
The ONW/ Beamcraft I is a version of a design built in the 1960s. It uses commercial window frame “Beams” for the body, and simple 1 inch tubes for the tail. The wings are a simple ladder structure with strut bracing. It can be built in High wing, Mid wing or Low wing configuration, and nose or tail wheel. It is intended for engines ranging from 16 Horse Kohler or Briggs to the 447 rotax and will fly delightfully in the US UL range.
The TNW/ Beamcraft II is a biplane version of the Beam Craft: Same structure, same wheel arrangements, same rough weights and performance. You can have 2 ailerons or 4.

Named after Graham Lee’s Granddaughter, it is a small negative stagger Sesquiplane, constructed of Aluminum tube and fabric. Miranda is a very light cabin job, designed for efficiency in touring and fun. The small chord lower wing improves total lift. Whittman wing tips boost top speed and climb; shorten take off and reduce stall speed. A large diameter prop gives the plane STOL performance, while the short wing span Allows steep decent angles for excellent short field performance. Miranda can be powered with a Rotax 277 to 582, VW, Hirth or most motors between 28 and 65 horse. Extremely versatile.
Wingspan: 22 ft Wing Area: 117 sq. ft. Length: 17 ft 8 in Height: 7 ft 6 in Weight: 280 lbs Fuel Tank: 10 US gal. Stall: 30 mph Cruise: 70-90 mph Top Speed: 100+ mph Never Exceed: 125 mph Gross wt: 600 lbs G Factor: 5.7+ 2.8-
This is a 2 plane set of plans. You can combine the desireable aspects of both. The Tabloid was produced first as a Bennet racer, and did very well. It was then adopted by the military. With all of the accessories added, it needed a bigger engine, a change of cowl, and rudder to become the Sopwith Baby. Both aircraft were 2 place side by side, but in 7/8 scale they are perfect for the average 200 pound pilot of today. The Sopwith’s construction techniques are similar to the Nieuports. The fuselage can be built in a couple of weekends, and wing ribs will only take a couple of hours to bend. Best Performance (Baby) Rotax 582 or Hirth with 72 inch or larger prop. The Tabloid can be VW powered due to the smaller cowl, but will need a 2100 CC Or larger engine. NOTE: The skids are necessary with the rearward placed wheels. The wheels can be positioned as on the baby without tip over skids.
Sopwith Tabloid and Baby Wingspan: 21 ft 75 in Wing Area: 195 sq. ft. Length: 19 ft 5 in Height: 7 ft 43 in Weight: 325 lbs Fuel Tank: 12 – 15 US gal. Stall: 35 mph Cruise: 75 mph Top Speed: 90 mph Never Exceed: 110 mph Gross wt: 650 lbs G Factor: 5.7+ 2.8-
The Morane Saulnier N or Bullet is an earlier WW1 Design, one of the first to have a gun that fired through the propeller requiring deflector plates on the propeller. This Shoulder wing design was faster than anything around at the time despite being wire braced. The replica is constructed just like the Nieuport, of tubes and gussets, but has the addition of 1/8 plywood formers and stringers to round out the fuselage. Builders could forego the formers and change the tail to produce a Pfalz (the German variant). The Morane replica has proper ailerons, as they did on the later models, and the flying stabilator can be split into stab and elevator. It flew well either way. Best Performance with Rotax or Hirth ~ 500cc 2.5 or 3:1 reduction. VW is possible, but performance will suffer appreciably in acceleration and climb due to short propeller diameter. Rotax 503 will swing a 72 X 33 or 68 X 34 and really perform. VW’s will swing 60 or 61 inch @ 3000 RPM with just over Half the thrust.
