Bee Aviation Wee Bee

The Wee Bee was built in 1949, with the pilot in a prone position. Designed by Ken S. Howard, the Wee Bee had three instruments in front of the pilot. The control stick is reached by armholes in the fuselage and the rudder pedals are operated by feet.

In 1948 test pilot William Bouck flew it to 25 ft during take off tests at Gillespie Field, San Diego. By December 1948, about 12 flights had been made.

Initially it had a tail wheel gear. The original WeeBee had a Righter S-2-45 (military O-45) engine while a replica is quoted as having a Kiekhafer engine.

This aircraft was destroyed in a fire that also destroyed the San Diego Aerospace Museum in 1978.
