Swing Europe Axis

Axis 3

The origins of the Axis 3 go back to the Arcus 3. When realising the new designs, the Swing development team relied on a proven backup design system. Along with the Arcus 3, a second prototype proved to be particularly promising.

The Axis 3 is the ideal glider for beginner pilots. The low canopy weight and the small packing size mean that the Axis 3 is also well suited for long mountain trips. The “classic” construction of the Axis 3 means that its canopy is light and it has a small pack size. The 4 point riser system is retained because of the more even change in the angle of attack on acceleration. Even an inexperienced pilot will have no problem in carrying out rapid descent methods such as “big ears” and B-stalls.

Development of the computer programmes used allows images to be more and more exact and this ensures high profile accuracy and precisely defined tension distribution. The Axis 3 is finished off with details such as the Ergo Grip – brake handle and the stabiliser openings (which can be closed) which allow dirt and debris to be cleaned from the inside of the glider.

The Axis 3 has a slightly modified form of the Arcus 3 profile. The distinctive features of the profile are its very low tendency to shoot forward, its particularly balanced launch behaviour as well as its excellent thermal characteristics. The long control travel and the progressive control pressure give the Axis 3 particularly forgiving behaviour when the brakes are used (which makes it suitable for beginners) but without creating a sluggish feeling.

The DHV 1 Axis 4 offers more than a pure training glider. It has even simpler handling and higher safety margins than its predecessor. It also has a longer life expectancy.

A notable feature of the profile is its very low tendency to pitch forward. It has particularly simple and good-natured launch behaviour and excellent properties in thermal flying. The late stall point and the progressive control pressure make the Axis 4 a particularly forgiving glider. This makes it perfect for beginners who are getting familiar with the control lines. Notwithstanding its DHV 1 rating, pilots can very quickly experience the pleasure of their first thermal and cross-country flying, given the AXIS 4’s relatively high level of agility.

The canopy structure of the Axis 4 has been completely redefined. The rounded openings on the bottom surface allow pilots to launch very easily even if conditions are somewhat unfavourable. The overall line length has been reduced by using a thinner material for the lines and adopting a new line geometry. This reduces drag and increases performance.

Axis 5

The Axis 5 for beginners, offers flying enjoyment meaning an easy launch, simple handling, a good glide and maximum passive safety. With forgiving characteristics, it has an EN-A classification.

The AXIS 5 offers:

  1. the canopy rises even better when inflating
  2. higher trim and max speed
  3. higher canopy stability over the whole speed range Geschwindigkeitsbereich
  4. better glide
  5. it is even more well-balanced
  6. smaller pack size
  7. better agility at the same damping around the roll and pitch axes
  8. use of flex sticks to give better strength of form in the leading edge area.

Swing Europe

Swing has been successfully developing paragliders since 1986 and is one of the pioneer manufacturers in the paragliding scene.

1998: Bad Feldring 25, d-82290 Landsberied, Germany.
1998: Bȁderstraβe 27a. D65321 Heidenrod-Kemel, Germany

In 1999, Swing Europe was working with 170 distributors in more than 48 countries. Swing is located 30 km west of Munich, near the Bavarian Alps, giving it an ideal base.

In 1999, Swing has 7 models (a total of 33 gliders in various sizes). The development team creates more than 50 prototypes each year.

Sup’Air Sora

Sora Tandem

For optimal control, trimmers either accelerate or slow the glider down. They are fitted on a double strap and produce a softer sensation, in particular for the passenger, and to reduce the effort in pulling them down. They attach to the bottom of the riser with a magnet to stop them flapping in the wind.

The positioning of rods reinforcing the profile has been especially designed in order to prevent friction on the upper surface thanks to a “buffer zone”, in order to prevent early ageing and guarantee high durability. The Sora is also fitted with brake tabs adjustable in height, so pilots of all sizes may fly it in comfort.

Big ears stay in place thanks to a dedicated blocker, which is located facing the pilot for better control and safety. A new wingtip clean-up system will help remove stones and twigs from the glider more easily.

The wide certified weight range is from 120kg to 220kg.

Sup’Air

Since 2012, Supair have owned their own brand of paraglider, developed by, amongst others, Pierre-Yves Alloix (formerly with Escape).

Laurent Chiabaut was on his own at the helm of Supair since the loss of Pierre Bouilloux.

Supair, the French manufacturer which was initially known for its harnesses, then its reserves, has bought the Czech brand Gradient. Gradient is one of the best known makes of wings, but for some time now they seem to have been economically stifled.

Laurent Chiabaut & Ondrej Dupal

The Gradient brand and models will continue to be developed in parallel to the Supair wings and Ondrej Dupal will remain fully active.

Sunglider Boxer

Boxer is exclusive motor glider so not suitable for paragliding. The ‘Boxer’ reduces lift effects that interrupt the glider’s forward movements using motor gliders profile.

Features fast take-off in no wind and a strong profile is used that makes flying possible in strong wind. By using a motor exclusive raiser-system, Boxer gives soft and comfortable handling.

Sunglider R2

The R2 paraglider was developed for the competition & cross country with the aim of going further, faster. The glide on speed bar is exceptionally fast and efficient.
The R2 was developed to satisfy the requirements of competition pilots: ease of penetration into thermal cores, fast and efficient glides, and very respectable safety characteristics for a glider of its class.

Sunglider Libero

The Libero is suitable for experienced pilots who intend to extend their cross-country distance and who seek increased speed. By using the closed-cell technology at the most appropriate location, the Libero maintain optimum pressure and maximizes glide with minimum pilot input. It also provides an enjoyable level of feedback and responsiveness to the pilot. The Libero thermals efficiently in competition and maintains altitude well on glide. The Libero’s fortified cell openings and internal structure create better glide along with more pleasure and safety in flight.
