Apco Twister

The Twister’s aerobatic wing is capable of soaring in high winds. A signature Limited Edition batch with anasymmetric graphic design has been in production since January 2007. Beginning of July 2007, and following the success of the Twister 18, Apco launched the Twister 16 for lighter pilots.
The Twister features a 43+km/h trim speed, tape reinforced L/E and ribs, Flexon technology, and Cousin’s Technora lines with no stretch or shrinking, and no friction burning.
A Butt hole on the trailing edge allows easy access to empty sand and dirt, all metal parts are non-rust or Stainless Steel, and the A and B hook-up points have span wise tape tensioner.
The Twister is NON CERTIFIED and should only be flown by expert Acro pilots and in compliance with national aeronautical law.
The glider is made from tear resistant Ripstop Nylon cloth, which is P.U. coated to zero porosity and then siliconized to give the fabric high resistance to the elements. Different cloth is used for the top, bottom and ribs due to their different functions. The lines are made of superaramid covered with a polyester sheath for protection against UV, wear and abrasion. The bottom section of the brake lines is made of polyester because of its better mechanical properties. The karabiners that attach the lines to the risers are made of stainless steel.

Apco Libra

Libra is a cross country high-performance glider, with a super-low drag design, incorporating embedded minimal drag top Dyneema line cascade unsheathed (lifetime guarantee), “zero drag” Bullet risers and reduced total line length.
Featuring a hi-tech profile developed from the Vista’s profile, accelerated flight brake compensator for a wide speed range, a double-coated cloth for extended durability, and all metal parts in Stainless Steel or Aluminium. Neodymium brake magnets and brake line connected to handles via swivels to eliminate line twists. Equipped with Flexon battens systems, and reduced intake size, optimising performance, inflation characteristics and reopening behaviour.

Apco Vista

The Vista is a DHV 1-2 Sports Class Intermediate, all-around wing with a free-style feel intended for a wide range of pilots and flying styles.
New technology has been incorporated to reduce the glider’s weight without sacrificing the durability of the cloth or construction.
Vista is equipped with Flexon® battens contributing to an extended speed range and improved performance, and Neodymium magnets and swivels on the brake handles.
The Vista features minimum drag top Dyneema lines (lifetime guarantee), split A risers with separate A / B / C / D line attachment, double-coated cloth for extended durability. All metal parts are Stainless Steel, and advanced diagonal rib structure, and heavy-duty Superaramide® lines.

Apco Thrust

Thrust 2009 is a purpose built paramotor wing improve the Thrust HP. Renamed Thrust 2009 (or for short Thrust 09), it is based on the earlier Thrust, but incorporates new materials and innovations. New designs features were incorporated into the wing such as the FLEXON ® batten system, new lightweight Gelvenor double coated siliconised cloth and stabilo steering.
The Thrust HP ’09 employs an automatic Stall Recovery System (SRS) that allows the pilot fly and launch at low speed despite the high wing loading. It prevents the wing and pilot from stalling at critical angle of attacks and aids in automatic recovery in case of a stall.
Thrust 2009 is suited to free flying and can be supplied with paragliding risers on request.
Other features are the diagonal rib structure, split A riser, all metal parts Stainless Steel or Aluminium, Butt Holes, Heavy-duty Swivels on brake handles, and integral, built-in, Neodymium brake magnets.
With a speed range of 23 to 60+ km/h, the Thrust SP is equipped with the HIT valve on the L/E, reflex airfoil, and universal riser + accelerator and trimmers to fit any paramotor frame
The lightweight Gelvenor siliconised cloth has an optional 5 Year/500 hour warranty, shedding 500gr. of its weight. The FLEXON® batten system incorporated, replacing mylar reinforcement on L/E, saves another 300gr from the weight of the glider.
Thrust HP 2009 is lighter by almost one kilo, thanks to the new cloth and sophisticated FLEXON® system – 5.4kg for S and 5.8kg for M.
Equipped with a new non-slip, easy lock Trim tab and with accelerator and trim (for paramotor version), featuring 2 different levels of hook-in points enabling the THRUST to be fitted to any frame and capable of a speed range of over over 50km/h.

In order to prove the safety of Thrust HP ’09, Air Turquoise, – official EN certification laboratory, – conducted a test sequence for all parameters of safety as a paramotor unit, in addition to standard paragliding certification. The tests confirmed that the reflex hybrid technology of Thrust HP actually improves the safety of the wing on higher speeds or with trimmers released. During the test, load on A and B risers were measured at different angle of attack at different speeds and it was proved that the load rises on A and B risers with increased speed, making collapses more difficult, contributing to the stability.

Apco Karma / Debute

KARMA out-performs many DHV 1-2 gliders while maintaining DHV 1 security at all speeds. A new profile, further planform evolution, and design innovations improved the overall performance. The glider weight has been sharply reduced, though still using Gelvenor cloth.
The Small prototype was called Debute.
The Karma is also available in a paramotor version, with modified risers with trimmers. Based on the DHV-1 Karma paraglider, it offers a solution as a school paramotor or as a first paramotor for the novice pilot.
The Karma features a new sophisticated profile, Split A-riser, Butt hole with Velcro closure, and is damped in pitch, highly resistant to surging forward or back even in turbulence (in line with newest, stringent DHV 1 requirements)
The glider is made from tear resistant Ripstop Nylon cloth, which is P.U. coated to zero porosity and then siliconized to give the fabric high resistance to the elements. Different cloth is used for the top, bottom and ribs due to their different functions. The lines are made of superaramid covered with a polyester sheath for protection against UV, wear and abrasion. The bottom section of the brake lines is made of polyester because of its better mechanical properties. The karabiners that attach the lines to the risers are made of stainless steel.

Apco’s Karma Sport (Karma SP) new beginner / intermediate wing was offered side by side with Karma. An additional beginner / intermediate wing which has a lot in common with Karma’s philosophy, but is glider with sharp, immediate response (handling inspired by Vista), and of a light, low weight, low pack volume.
Almost a kilo lighter than the Karma, the SP is equipped with Flexon battens across the span on the L/E, has a significantly lower line drag, and is made from new lightweight cloth.
KARMA SP Paramotor Version
KARMA SP was extensively tested for freeflying as well as under power and its equally well suited for both – making it a great wing for a paramotor. The KARMA SP’s overall behavior is tuned for motorised flight. From easy nil wind inflation and launching to ultra-safe stability.
The SP features Split A riser for perfect launch and big ears, an advanced riser system, stainless steel hardware , and anti-twist swivel and neodynium magnet brake handle.

Apco Prima

The Prima was introduced in 1993. Since then thousands have been delivered, probably the longest produced classic trainer – it is equally well suited for teaching free flying and perfect for entry level paramotoring.
This wing has been modernised with a 3rd version released. The wing is exactly the same as before, but has improved flare and adaptability for paramotor flying. The canopy is also more rigid (no tip movement), with redesigned, modern handling – direct and responsive in comparison with Prima II. To refresh and distinguish, Prima III has been dressed in a new color design.
The rest of Prima specifications remain the same. As always, produced from Gelvenor cloth combined with heavy duty lines, to ensure long lasting life.
The Prima III was designed for the beginner pilot with Big Ear and B-stall facilities, Split A’s, and a 3 Riser
system with accelerator
The glider is made from tear resistant Ripstop Nylon cloth, which is P.U. coated to zero porosity and then siliconized to give the fabric high resistance to the elements. Different cloth is used for the top, bottom and ribs due to their different functions. The lines are made of superaramid covered with a polyester sheath for protection against UV, wear and abrasion. The bottom section of the brake lines is made of polyester because of its better mechanical properties. The karabiners that attach the lines to the risers are made of stainless steel. The Tetra features a new profile, offering a very long brake range, while retaining excellent response. Apco Simba

Simba II is the 2002 update of the Simba. The Simba II is equiped with a new speed system better glide and stability at top speed along with a increase in top speed, and a new line layout for the tip A-Lines. The new tip line layout gives improved “Big Ear’s”.
Simba is the successor of the Bagheera and has a revised diagonal rib structure, incorporating the expierence gained from building the Tigra 2000. This created a cleaner wing andenabled a reduction in the amount of lines on the glider.

In order to meet the requirements of the Serial class competition rules, the Simba was re-certified in competition rigging configuration. It combines Top-level performance together with the safety of the Performance class certification. The only difference between the Simba and the Simba Comp is the type of line used. The Simba Comp has unsheathed Aramid. The line lengths are all identical.
The Simba has been certified Afnor Performance in all sizes with unsheathed competition lines, and Trimmers are available as an option.

Apco Keara

Although released during the 2nd half of 2002, the KEARA was Apco’s new star for the year. Introduced as Simba’s daughter (a character from Disney’s story of the Lion King), it is said to be inheriting all Simba’s virtues and more: faster, more powerful and better performing.

The leading edge of the Keara features Flexon Nylon Battens which hold the profile shape at speed, and HIT Valves (High-Speed Intake Valves). “HIT Valves” increase the internal pressure of the wing both during accelerated flight and in extreme situations, improving safety and performance. The “HIT Valve”, placed above the leading edge openings, opens automatically when the stagnation point moves over the valves, pressurizing the wing. Only a few valves are necessary over the span of the leading edge to pressurize the entire wing at higher speeds.

The HIT is a sequence of meshed valves above the leading edge opening, which are closed during flight on trim speed (average angle of attack), but open once the angle of attack is reduced and speed is increased. Apco claims that this “ensures a rock-solid wing at highest possible speed”.
KEARA also introduces a semi rigid leading edge that helps keep the profile definition. Apco calls it FLEXON batten technology, and it reminds us of Gin’s Rigi-foil system introduced for the first time with the Boomerang, in 2001, which inspired other manufacturers to work on semi-rigid leading edges (e.g. Windtech’s Syncro also features a version on this subject). The Flexon battens support the top and bottom surface leading-edge fabric between the ribs, keeping the profile clean and the intakes open. This feature is supposed to improve the performance of the wing, especially at high speeds, and also improve inflation of the wing both during launch and re-inflation in flight, according to the manufacturer. Apco has also certified a competition version of KEARA with unsheathed thin lines.
Apco Keara: A question of Speed

Apco’s leader Anatoly Cohn is not happy. His newborn star for the intermediate-advanced pilot, the Keara, was measured a much lower top speed by the DHV than Apco’s promises. The company had claimed that the glider could reach a maximum speed of 59k/h, while the certification organ published a humble 51k/h, which they had to correct later saying that the measures were taken with trims closed. Now, the top speed published by the DHV for all the certified sizes is 54k/h, but Anatoly Cohn has expressed his nuisance in a letter sent to Apco’s dealers, stating that “DHV officials explained and admitted that their speed measurements do not reflect true, top speed capacity of the glider and they do not aim to record it as they certify Safety, not Performance”. And so he reassures that the model does reach 59k/h: “We stand firmly behind our measurements and support them as true, realistic figures. We conducted many comparative speed runs and are faster than many other DHV 2-3 or DHV 3 gliders for which DHV recorded top speeds of 56km/h, 57km/h or even faster”. He encourages pilots to test fly the Keara by themselves and conduct their own comparisons with other paragliders, paying special attention to speed. He seems to be completely sure that the Keara will win most races. Cohn believes that from now on DHV will avoid publishing top speed figures, “as they are not reliable or objective and should not be used in manufacturers marketing hype”.

Apco Air Extreme / AX

The Air XTreme design utilised CAD CAM and hundreds of flight test hours.
Simple and safe to fly and handle, but intended for experienced pilots, and requiring an understanding of the limitations of the wing.
Smooth level flight without cart leaning to the left and back, because of the lower RPM at straight and level Fight. The Air XTreme features reduced engine RPM by 1,200 – 1,500 for straight and level flight.
The Air XTreme 400 (released after the 500) differs from the 500 in that it has a higher speed, quicker response and generally a more sporty feel. It is intended for more experienced pilots. Even though it has a smaller area than the 500, the Maximum load rating remains the same.
