Seux, Edmond

Edmond Seux (1869 – 1909) was a pioneer from the Lyon area, who invented an airship in 1902 and started experimenting with models in 1904. In the spring of 1907 he started development of a monoplane.

Seux went on to design a biplane together with the Roesch brothers in 1908. Edmond Seux was found dead in the Rhône in November 1909, having committed suicide because of financial problems.

SET / Fabrica de Avione S.E.T / Societatea de Exploatari Technice

The Societatea de pentru Exploatari Technice (SET) works, founded in 1923 Fabrica de Avione S.E.T as a manufacturing subsidary, and was the third Romanian company to manufacture aeroplanes. Its aircraft production actually started only in 1927 with the SET 3 trainer. Until then, since 1924, only repair work had been performed there.

Developed aircraft designed by Grigore C Zamfirescu for Divisia l-a Aeriana. Designs included S.E.T. 7 biplane trainer, S.E.T. 7K reconnaissance variant, S.E.T. 10 biplane advanced trainer, S.E.T. XV biplane fighter; also made Fleet 10G trainers. SET X was single-seat fighter/trainer biplane; SET XV single-seat fighter biplane with enclosed cockpit, built in small numbers for Romanian Air Force during early 1930s; SET 7 was a specially equipped trainer; SET 7K a reengined observation derivative ordered in series by Romanian Government. Later SET 31 also adopted officially.

Societe Europeene de Production de I’Avion Ecole de Combat et d’Appui Tactique

An Anglo-French company, SEPECAT formed May 1966 by Breguet Aviation and British Aircraft Corporation to design and produce the high-subsonic Jaguar twin-jet strike fighter/trainer; current operating companies are British Aerospace and Dassault Aviation. Prototype first flew September 1968 and production Jaguars began equipping the French Armee de I’Air in 1972, followed by the RAF in 1974. Versions became Jaguar A as the French single-seat tactical support aircraft; Jaguar B as the British two-seat operational trainer (original RAF designation Jaguar I Mk 2); Jaguar E as the French two-seat trainer; Jaguar S as the RAF single-seat tactical support aircraft; and Jaguar International as the more-powerful export version. Production ended in Europe in 1985 after delivery of 12 Internationals to Ecuador, 200 to France, 40 Internationals to India, 18 Internationals to Nigeria, 24 Internationals to Oman, and 203 to the RAF. In addition, International was also put into assembly/production by HAL in India as the Shamsher, 91 being delivered to the Indian Air Force for various roles, including maritime strike, by close of production in 1998.
