Veliplane-Sofrec Spad

A 1980 hang glider with a 140 ° angle, shaped slats, double sail at 30%, a floating transverse and a sliding umbrella, the speed range is not very large. The finish is good, the assembly is fast although the umbrella sometimes tends to get stuck on the keel. For safety, Véliplane provided 4 booster cords.

The sail was later manufactured by EOLE2000 in its Salins-Les-Bains facility.

A Swordfish, version of the Spad without transverse, was abandoned.

Vega Drachenbau MX

MX

The MX was a 1989 hang glider. It was followed by the 1990 MX 2 for advanced pilots.

MX 2

The MX 2 Austrian glider allowed Manfred Ruhmer – Vega test pilot at the time – to score 2nd in the 1990 European championship. Some features of this glider have been copied by other manufacturers. It was imported in France by Survol-Fun en Bulle, in Crolles.

UP Super Redtail

The Super Retail is a high performing design based on the standard Rogallo configuration. For experienced pilots, it has a rapid response to control. Its shorter keel gives higher performance but less parachuting ability.

The Super Redtail features a variable cambered nose that can be adjusted to suit conditions. Quick pin and wing nut fasteners allow rapid ‘no tool’ set up. Pivoting deflexer blades swing down and lock for minimum adjustment. It has an adjustable centre of gravity control bar mounting bracket.

The leading edge spars are 6061-T6 1.75 x .049 aluminium tubing and keel and cross-spur are 1.5in x .049. There are Ultralite Products saddles at all tubing joints. The rigging cable is 304 3/32in 7 x 7 stainless steel. Cables for the deflexers are 1/16in 7 x 7 stainless steel.

Hardware is all grade 8 aircraft bolts, washers, and nuts. Stainless steel nose plate, tangs, control bar bracket and kingpost bracket. The control bar is 6061-T6 1in x .084 aluminium with epoxy coating.

The sail is Howe and Bainbridge 3.8oz stabilised dacron. Available in 11 colours, the sail has applied leading edge pockets for minimum airfoil distortion.

A swing seat was included with a prone harness optional.
