A 1983 hang glider. The airframe tubing is 7075 T6 alloy. The keel is 42×0.9 mm, with 44×0.9 sleeves. The crossbar is 52×0.9, with 50×0.9 inner sleeve (about 1.2 m long). The leading edge – nose to crossbar-LE junction – is 42×0.9 with 44×0.9 sleeve and 40 mm inner sleeve. Crossbar-LE to end: 44×0.9 with 46×0.9 sleeve.

Ellipse Virus / Altiss Virus

Before 1987 the French manufacturer Ellipse was named Altiss. Initially made under the name Altiss from 1986, it continued with the Ellipse name, for advanced pilots. No kingpost – struts instead of side wires.

On the 1988 Virus, Ellipse had replaced the lower side cables with profiled rigid stays and thus removed the mat and return cables.

Ellipse Titanium

The Ellipse Titanium is a 2010 hang glider for Advanced pilots.

The Titanium “all options” version has balestrons and special fabrics (Extrados and B.de Attack). For take-off the adjustment of the anchor point forward (innovation of Ellipse) of the trapeze provides a very nice position and efforts are quite acceptable. The overdrive must be stretched at least 1/3 to change the behavior. As soon as it is stretched, the wing becomes more precise. As it is stretched, beyond 1/3, the handling becomes lost and the speed really increases.

The sail is not tight on the ground and some wrinkles remain in the air if we do not tend at all overdrive (normal). But the flight qualities remain perfect even without stretched overdrive.
This machine is intended for young drivers (not out of slope but a little later) and especially for experienced drivers who are looking for an easy, maneuverable, simply posable, with performance.

Titan Easy

A Titan Easy Competition 135 (no return cables, but balestrons) wing weighs 38 kg with the cover. It is asymmetrical, had too much recall, and the strap retractor abutted on the mounts at the final push. The manufacturer announces 13.9 glide ratio at 45 km / h, but it would mean that the drop rate would still be 0.9 m / sec.

This wing needs to be loaded (at least 75 kg naked weight) otherwise it becomes physical.
