Universal TC-1

The 1935 Universal TC-1 was a single-place, open cockpit triplane, modified from the French Mignet HM-11 design by Cassell De Hibbs.

Originally offered as a free airplane included as an incentive with the purchase of a Universal motor; later sold for $695. As a kit aircraft, design was claimed by Lillian Holden. Plans were marketed in 1953 by George Frisbie, DePere WI.

Those built include N18254 c/n 1109-F, N18291 c/n 7126-F, N18376 c/n 24, and N18750] c/n 33.

American Mignet Aircraft Corp undertook license production of French Mignet HM-11 “Flying Flea” ultralight design in the 1930s.

The first was known as HM-20 NX18218 c/n 1.

Subsequent units were sequentially numbered as HM-21 NX18226 c/n 2, HM-23 NX18240 c/n 3.

Then subsequent units were known as Universal American Fleaship, including N11599, N17619 and N17620, and N17650 to N17653, and Flea Triplane (Universal TC-1).
