The Kauffmann No. 4 with its pointed wings and a 6-cylinder radial Anzani engine was displayed at the 1911-1912 “Salon”. It was designed and built by Paul Kauffmann (1893-1959), at the time only 18 years old. He had built his first airplane two years earlier, at the same time starting “Le Cerf-Volant”, a kite-flying magazine. He would continue in aviation, filing several patents, until wounded in action in 1915.
