Formed 1931 to take over production of Ryan Speedster biplane from Detroit Aircraft Corporation. A prototype twin-boom two-seat lightplane, the Hammond Model Y, was built in 1934. Redesignated Stearman-Hammond Y-1S, it was produced in small numbers until 1938.
