Designed for counter-Insurgency, the design and construction of the General Dynamics Charger took thirty-five weeks.
First flown on 25 November 1964, General Dynamics offered the Charger as an ‘off the shelf’ aircraft and claimed 100 could be delivered within 18 months. Orders of 500 would give an average price of $250,000.
