Luftwaffe pilot Kahn decided to defect. On 30 August when 14 Fw-190s were being ferried to JG26 at Brussels-Melsbroek. Taking off from Wiesbaden, Kahn flew straight to England and belly landed near Monkton road farm, close to Manston, Kent. His Fw-190A-8, Wnr 171747, was later put on display at the Farnborough exhibition of captured German equipment before being scrapped.
