Introduced in 1980, the Spirit was the successor to the Floater, with a simplified sail cut but retaining the Floater’s general planform and hinged cross-spar. The sink rate suffered somewhat from the modifications, but it was fairly manoeuvrable and easier to launch and land than its predecessor.
