Around 1980, Günter Rochelt, on the basis of the Farner's Canard 2FL airframe, built the first German solar airplane, with specialists Schöberl and Richter.

Rochelt gave the solar duck hanging winglets with brake control and again the solid slat that Farner's duck originally had as well.
