Brendel 1911 monoplane

 Brendel-mono

This machine was built by two brothers, of German nationality but living in Topeka, Kansas. It made three successful, if short, flights but crashed on its fourth because of high wind. It was repaired and put on display but it's uncertain if it flew again. In any event, the builders did not consider it very successful and built a second machine, basing it more closely on the Blériot type. One of the brothers used it in exhibition work, not only in Kansas but also in Canada.
