Stout Twin

William Bushnell Stout, creator of the aircraft which led to the Ford Tri-Motor, built a device powered by a pair of 32-hp Bristol Cherub engines. This had a large canard set very close to the main lifting surface, corrugated skin-ning; a forerunner of the Tri-Motor.
