The piston-engined IAR-823 two/-five-seat training/liaison aircraft first flew in July 1973 and series production started in 1974. The aircraft has a retractable tricycle undercarriage, two underwing hardpoints for fuel tanks or practice weapons, and is aerobatic under certain payload conditions. Power plant is a 216kW Lycoming I0-540.
