Auster Model P Avis

The Model P Avis four seat tourer based on the J/1 with a slimmer circular section rear fuselage, new undercarriage, four doors and new wing flaps. Powered by a 145 h.p. Gipsy Major 10 engine, it was planned in two versions, the Mk 1 for civil use, and the Mk 2 for military and air ambulance duties.

Only two prototypes were built by Auster Aircraft Ltd., Rearsby, the first flying in mid-1947. That was Avis Mk.1 G-AJXW c/n 2838. The second completed was Avis Mk.2 G-AJYF c/n 2907.

Auster abandoned the project in favour of the J/5 Autocar.
